Kim-Moon summit grabs international spotlight

Kim-Moon summit
The leaders of the two Koreas shook hands at the Military Demarcation Line at 9:30 am on Friday. This meeting, the first in 11 years, holds the attention of not only the two countries involved, but also the international community.

A live broadcast of the meeting started to stream on online platforms and televisions with South Korean President Moon Jae-in's car group heading to Panmunjom, where he would meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Global Times reporters watched the live broadcast of the Friday meeting in the Korea International Exhibition Center in Goyang, South Korea.

The press center burst into a round of applause when Kim and Moon shook hands and chatted while standing on their respective sides of the border, which is marked by a raised, foot-wide concrete line.
